Starbucks – Pumpkin Scone

I had real high hopes for this… everything it needed was there. Pumpkin. Being a scone. Icing, flavor drizzle… but… I think this one came crashing down. Maybe it was my expectations. Or maybe it was a day old.

The scone itself was sort of dry to bite into. It was a good thing I had a coffee nearby to wash it down. The pumpkin flavor was decent. A little too much nutmeg for my liking I believe though. I feel if it did not have the icing on top it would have been disastrous. Pumpkin is like fine Texas BBQ… it needs to be able to stand alone on its own merit without the aid of additional sauces, or icing in this case.

The icing itself was a hard outer shell which leads me to believe it was a day old. Had the icing been softer, it may have changed the entire course of my disappointment. It may have been the life jacket to this sinking ship. But instead I felt like Rose watching it sink to the bottom when I had perfectly enough space for it on my door. Somethings you just have to let go of.

The overall experience of this scone was on par. Way less than I expected given the presentation but still not overly bad. It’s just not going to win championships with that game play.

Starbucks – Apple Cider Donut

Another ‘or Nah’ for you crazy kids.

I would like to start off by saying I am not really a big fan of apple cider donuts in the past. Not sure why. I love apple cider and all things apple, especially those apple bottoms, if you feel me. ?

This donut, however, was a sugary gift from the apple gods. Maybe because it has so much icing, maybe the raw sugar crystals sold it for me, maybe because it was old fashioned cake style donut, or maybe it was just a fabulous morsel bite every single time perfectly packaged in a round circle of trust that said “I’m here for you because I know you live in Florida and you love apple orchards.”

We may never know the real reason why this was so good. And frankly, I don’t care if I ever find out. I will take this goodness and smile on.

Cheers.

Quaker – Pumpkin Spice Oatmeal

This was truly a pleasant surprise. I didn’t have high hopes here to be honest but man I was proven an imbecile for ever doubting the delicacy that is oats. Ingredient mix: 2 Packets of Oats. 1 cup of whole milk. Microwaved for 1:30. Yes milk was used. If you use water to make oats I believe you are a sociopath who only wants to watch the world burn and you need professional help. Joking… or am I? ??‍♂️

The taste was very soft but perfectly balanced for a bowl of oats. The spice was not overly powerful and with every bite my tongue was coated with milky spicy goodness. The slight hint of cinnamon and nutmeg was just the right amount mixed it. It was soft but just bold enough.

If you want your day to start off right, this is a must try. I felt the sun shine warmer, brighter, the birds chirp a little louder, the grass was a little greener, the morning dew shimmered a little glossier.

With the addition of a few pecans or something this would have been even better. But alas, I was canless.

Pumpkin Pancake Latte

Pumpkin Pancake LatteAgawams Java Stop – Pumpkin Pancake Latte is a complete delight. If you ever find yourself in Western Massachusetts and in the town of Agawam, the Java Stop is a must. This pumpkin maple shortbread coffee was very light in flavor but it still was a pleasure to taste. My close friend, Chiara, who brought me is a regular customer here and let me know the particular barista who made it typically does not put enough flavor in her mixes so I will have to find a way to come back and experience the full on version, because even with this light flavor, I was impressed. The sweet shortbread cookie flavor came through more than the pumpkin. A great addition to the cup is that they give you two pumpkin spice covered espresso beans with each cup. These delicious morsels more than made up for the light flavor of the coffee with an explosion of pumpkin greatness upon biting down. All around, this little hole in the wall Java Stop left me wanting to come back for more tastings if their very large menu.

WaWa Pumpkin Spice Coffee

Light Roast. Light Weight.
Pouring a cup of Wa-Wa Coffee

This coffee is a really something to write home about.  It is so well done and a light roast so it is not too strong of a flavor.  The nutmeg is not overbearing and the cinnamon is lightly noted.  It holds a deep spectrum of flavors that blend together in a delightful way.

Whether you add cream to your coffee or not you are able to pull the flavor notes out of this coffee.

Maple Glazed Doughnut

Our First ‘or Nah’

The only thing that comes close to my love for pumpkin is my love for maple syrup. I put it on pancakes, eggs, toast, peanut butter, corned beef hash, bacon, sausage, home fries, muffins…. I think you get the idea….

This protein bar by ISS® OH YEAH! ONE is worth noting simply because it is touting the ‘Maple’ in the name.  To be honest, the maple flavor was lacking a little but you can still catch it on the palate.  If you are a big time maple person I would suggest this for at least a 1 time go around.  It was not sweet, so do not go into it thinking it as a candy bar replacement, however, it is most certainly a treat.

img_1629Smoothie King has tried kicked off the season with a statement… and the Pumpkin-ites have heard it loud and clear! Dropping this delectable Organic Pumpkin Spice Smoothie, they have established their foothold and set the bar high for competition.

My only regret about this smoothie is that I did not have my travel can of whipped cream to top it off because this was nothing short of a slice of our beloved pie in a cup.  This was a fantastic sipper to kick back and enjoy start to finish.  Blended perfectly with every sip encompassing your tongue and laying it down in the middle of the patch on a cloud, I can guarantee even your average pumpkin fans will begging for another.
